Well this past weekend, I did my first show at the Holy City Artists and Fleas for this year. The weather was beautiful, maybe a little too beautiful because it was slow during the morning hours. Because there weren’t many indoor vendors, I had the opportunity to expand my display by 3 feet. I even used a display that was there for my accessories. I got to set up my new (to me) handbag stand and it worked out very well. I could hang all my items up and they looked a lot better that way.
I also got the opportunity to meet some new folks. I met a guy named Hawk Hurst. He makes Native American-style flutes and drums. He stopped by my booth and inquired about my bags. He asked if I could possibly create something for his customers who are looking for a bag to carry their hand drums.
I saw this wonderful dress at Retulled Tutus’ booth and stopped to ask the owner Siobhan about it. She told me that it was just fabric she had in her bag that she threw on the mannequin on a whim. How creative is that? Anyhow she creates tutus and her accessories from re-purposed vintage materials.
Overall the show went well. I got some advice from customers and had a few guys stop by my booth. I even had one request a messenger bag. I guess I have to get “manly” items up on the site.
