Last year I decided that it was time for my business to give back. I don’t have a large company, but I feel it is still important to give back to those in need. I have on a personal level participated in giving back in any way I can. My daughter and I serve dinner at one of the local women and children’s shelter here in Charleston. I also try to donate to small organizations, even if it’s $5 or $10. Every little bit helps!
Recently a coworker of mine asked if I would join the March of Dimes fundraising committee at work. At first I was a bit hesitant because I didn’t know what I’d be getting into. After speaking with a few people who have had dealings with the March of Dimes, I thought it would be a great organization to start.
Some people think the March of Dimes is just about premature babies. Heck, I thought that very thing. After reviewing their site, I found that they do more than just help babies who are born premature. They help moms adapt healthy lifestyles to help prevent premature birth as well as make it possible for those who can’t afford proper pregnancy care to receive it. The one thing I did not know they did was provide help and counseling for those whose child passed away after being born.
Feel free to donate here. My goal is to raise $350 this year. I will also be donating 20% off all sales from February through April 23rd to the March of Dimes. Please help me save the babies!
I will be walking for the cause on April 26, 2014. If you are in the area and would like to walk, you can click on the link to the right and choose that option.
